How Much Do You Charge?
I know this may seem like a touchy subject...and frankly I don't want to disclose what I charge normally. But I found a solution. I'm going to post a poll on the main page. Feel free to vote - it is anonymous - I don't see who voted or what your specific answer is. Really curious to know.

I don't mind discussing this at all. If I can effect every researcher and raise the value of a Genealogist Researcher, it will help everyone receive due compensation. Besides there are ways to find out the income of anyone if you really wanted to know.
ReplyDeleteI Normally charge $50 an hour.
For Very specialized research $100 an hour
I also offer Projects. This will allow the client to know exactly what the price will be.
I also offer a rush service. This is $700 If this is really a critical situation the client will pay. However, this allows me to put the clients work before every other client. I normally work very late and weekends to do this so the fee is justified.
For large projects, expenses are included, unless I recommend a trip to another state in which I can charge anywhere from $1,000-5,000 dollars depending on the length. Some clients requested I travel with them to England to help them with their research. Anything is possible.
Hi Josh
ReplyDeleteThe Family Tree Poll isn't letting me vote and I thought this was a democracy :)
Yeah, there was an issue with that poll - testing out a new widget..I guess it didn't work!
